The facts around the disruption of May 23 and 24
The EVERLINK network is reliable, robust and mature. Here are the actual, documented and verifiable facts for these two days:

  • On Friday May 23rd between 15:32 and 16:32 EST and, Saturday May 24th between 00:30 and 02:30, there were two disruptions which were resolved in a timely manner.
  • The cause was quickly diagnosed and attributed to work performed by BELL and TELUS on the Interac network components. This affected the Everlink connectivity to the Interac Member Network (IMN).
  • There was absolutely NO cause, operational issue or disruption due to the Everlink network or the Everlink Operations whatsoever. Nonetheless, as the operator of the Interac IMN for our Clients, Everlink took ownership of the disruption, working with Interac and the telcos towards the diagnosis and resolution.
  • Although these short disruptions were TOTALLY due to sources external to the Everlink operations AND beyond the direct or indirect control of Everlink, we have taken the following proactive actions to remedy:
    • We issued several “Production Service Alerts” to you, our Clients, informing you about the disruption and its resolution.
    • We issued a communication to the C2C node officials informing them of the disruption.
    • We issued a letter to Interac requesting explanations to the source and reason of the disruptions and demanding assurances that such events will not happen again.
    • We performed a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) – internally and with other external service providers to the network (Interac, Bell, TELUS, etc, as the case may be) to ascertain the true cause of the issue and, more importantly, avoid future recurrence.
  • All the above proactive steps underline the Everlink commitment to continually enhancing all operational aspects of our service delivery to our clients.

Conclusions

1. At an average monthly network availability of over 99.97% from January 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008 and with none of these short disruptions attributable to Everlink, there is overwhelming and facts-based evidence that the Everlink switching network is MATURE, ROBUST, STABLE AND HIGHLY RELIABLE.
